Klein Tools has added a kneeling pad to its MODbox modular storage system. The MODbox Kneeling Pad and Seat, model 54836MB, can strap onto the top of a MODbox tool box to turn it into a padded seat or kneeling surface, or it can be used on its own on the floor. ToolGuyd reported the launch on August 24, 2026.

How it attaches

Klein says elastic side straps hook underneath the MODbox rails, so the pad can sit on top of any MODbox box. That means a stack of MODbox storage can double as a perch while you work at low outlets, under sinks or along baseboards, then come off again in seconds.

ToolGuyd suggests the seat role could pair well with a MODbox drawer unit placed on Klein’s new 4-wheel dolly.

Materials and size

According to Klein’s product page:

  • Padding: NBR foam with an EVA backer for cushioning and structural support during long periods of kneeling
  • Cover: 1680D material that resists water, dirt and rough surfaces, and is hand washable
  • Size: 21.5 inches long, 15 inches wide and 2 inches tall
  • Weight: 2.55 lb
  • Extras: carrying handles for moving it between jobs or shifting it while you work

The pad is black with orange edges to match the rest of the MODbox range, which includes the 54100MBX rolling toolbox, the 54200MBX medium toolbox and the 54890MB three drawer rolling toolbox.

Price and where to buy

Klein’s product page does not list a price. ToolGuyd reported a price of $50 at Acme Tools at launch. Klein’s own where to buy list points to retailers including Acme Tools, Zoro, Platt and ToolUp.

Who should buy it

If you already carry MODbox storage, this is a simple way to get a seat and a kneeling pad without adding another bulky item to the van, since it rides on the boxes you already own. Electricians, installers and anyone who spends a lot of time working near the floor will get the most use from it.

If you do not use MODbox, it still works as a large standalone kneeling pad. In that case, compare it with a basic kneeling pad, and think about whether a pad or wearable knee pads suit the way you move around a job.

Klein lists the pad under knee protection. For anything beyond comfort on the job, follow the guidance that comes with the product.
